Our Mission

Gilpin Mountain Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional care and early learning opportunities for children in our rural mountain community. We will be offering programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, with a focus on delivering quality education and sharing valuable resources with local families.

We do not have a definitive date of opening quite yet, but we are making progress towards the goal of opening in the Fall of 2025.


We have hired our Executive Director who will start on June 16th, 2025. Congratulations to Amy Carr! Amy is a local resident in our community with vast experience in child care, including recently being Director of a child care center in Louisville, CO. She has her Master's degree in Leadership for Educational Organizations, and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education Studies. Amy is a passionate advocate for children and families, and a dedicated community member. Welcome Amy! 


- The 501(c)(3) application has been approved as of January 20, 2025. This is such a huge step in the process of opening the center. By obtaining this federal non-profit status, we are eligible for more public funding, which will help to keep costs affordable, while still being able to provide the highest quality care.

We haven't made any firm decisions yet. Many of those types of decisions will be made the Executive Director. It will be their duty to hire the staff and advise the Board on decisions, such as hours of operation.

We want to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and we are looking for ways to enhance our services and better meet the needs of the families in our community.
